Safety Services since 1993.

Since 1989 Stephen Woodin has been providing safety & continuing education courses for industry. Safety Services was founded by a St. Petersburg woman in 1993. Stephen Woodin has been the owner/administrator since 1994. When Stephen Woodin purchased the company in 1994 it consisted of little more than a cardboard box of paperwork and 2 CPR manikins. Today, Safety Services trains more people in CPR/First aid in Florida than most training centers in the region.

Safety Services School of Continuing Education

In 1997, Safety Services began offering HIV/AIDS continuing education to licensed individuals that required it for license renewal. As a Florida approved provider, Safety Services received approval by the Board of Cosmetology in March, 1997 Now 12 professions in Florida can choose Safety Services for quality, convenient, affordable continuing education. Safety Services continually reviews the current trends in these professions to develop courses relevant to those areas in which licensed professionals need to further their education and skills.

How did we begin?

In 1989, Stephen Woodin took a "part-time" instructor position with the Flagler County School Board, Adult Education Department. He took instructor level courses in CPR, & First Aid. Stephen Woodin was constantly being asked to provide courses for small groups at night in their homes. He realized two things: he had a talent for teaching, and there was a need for quality safety education in Florida. In 1994 after moving to Oldsmar, Florida Stephen purchased Safety Services from the proprietor in St. Petersburg. He developed a cost effective first aid course as an alternative to the "big 2" National courses available. After approval of that course by the Florida Department of Children & Families, courses in Adult First Aid, HIV/AIDS, Domestic Violence, Safe Transportation of Children, & Fire Extinguishers were developed and approval granted by their respective agencies for continuing education in 18 different professions.

Eight years have passed. Over 5,000 students have taken Safety Services courses, and many have gone on to establish very successful careers in their respective fields. Others have benefited from the knowledge gained in the classroom by saving the life of a friend or family member. Safety Services has become a well known name in training for its' high standards, bullet proof ethics, and competive price. We are pleased to carry on this tradition on a daily basis.

The mid 1990s brought dramatic changes to the training requirements necessary for many professionals to renew their license. Safety Services recognized the need for quality, convenient, affordable continuing education. The decision was made to expand the scope of training to include continuing education in homestudy format by video, book and now on the internet for those looking to take the training when it is convient for them to do so, not when the instructors have available time.

None of this would be possible without the commitment of our students, customers, and peers. The desire for quality education and their loyalty to our programs are greatly appreciated by all of us at Safety Services.
